Things to consider when Buying a Gaming Computer

Video game technology is constantly advancing and with the amount of online games currently available to play, PC users are now searching for a way to take advantage of this thrilling new past time. Unfortunately, a good gaming computer is very different from the normal office pc that you’re used to using every day. If you’re new on the scene and you’re not sure what to look for when buying a gaming computer, then you’re going to be disappointed if you get a computer that’s made for simple internet use, and not for actual gaming.

When you visit a store in hopes of purchasing a new gaming system, sometimes the sales people can offer helpful advice, but keep in mind that most computer store employees work on commission based pay, which may lead to you purchasing expensive things that you might not need. This is why having the knowledge of what’s actually going on inside your pc is extremely important.

Here are a few tips that will help you decide which gaming pc is right for you.

• A good video card is one of the most important pieces of hardware in any gaming computer. If you’re looking to save money on your custom build, then this isn’t the place to do it. Having a quality gaming card is the key to making sure that your online gaming experience is as exciting as possible. When choosing the best video card for your PC, you should make sure that it supports 3D gaming and also has a high memory capacity. • Having a fast processor is another key component in any custom gaming desktop, especially if you enjoy winning. A developer will post the minimum required specifications for their games, but of course you don’t want to play at “minimum requirements” on your new pc. While most dual core processors will play the games on today’s market, if you’re looking to gain an edge on the competition you’ll probably want to go with at least a quad core processor. The i5 and i7 Intel processors are extremely powerful quad core processors that are perfect for gaming. • Having efficient memory to run these high-end video games is also very important.  Memory is fairly inexpensive these days, so there’s no reason you shouldn’t be packing at least 4GB of DDR3 RAM. In the computers we custom build, our lowest end gaming computer uses 4GB. I’m not saying this is bad, I’m just saying that the Psycho Killer has 48GB, which should show you that there is definitely room for upgrading.

• You need to get a fast internal hard drive with lots of room for storage. The amount of storage space you need really depends on how many games you will be installing. Most custom desktops will have at least 1 TB, and it’s always good to have the extra space. We also recommend using one or more Solid State Drives instead of a regular SATA hard drive. Having a SSD will greatly decrease the load times that occur on your computer.

• You want to make sure that you’re new computer comes with several PCI slots. When you’re purchasing a new computer, the specifications won’t always show how many PCI slots it comes with. PCI slots are essential when it comes to expanding your new gaming pcs as technology continues to advance. They are basically the docking stations for any additional hardware you want to add.

• You will want to get a gaming keyboard with customizable user profiles and keys. You might also consider one that fits the contour of your hands and that is comfortable enough to use for long periods of time. Different keyboards work for different people, so other than the customizable keys feature, it’s really all about comfort.

• A nice ultra-sharp widescreen monitor with a high refresh rate will make your gaming computer really stand out. When choosing the best monitor for gaming, you want to consider at least a 27 inch 120Hz high-resolution monitor with 3D capabilities. This is will help show the true capabilities of your graphics card.
